What gear is needed for bird watching?

Iv’e gotten really interested in owls and stuff lately…. i was wondering what gear is needed to watch -not hunt- for owls or other birds.

good dark olive green waterproof jacket and trouser. good stout/sturdy waterproof boots,warm insulating clothing and the best rubber housed binoculars you can afford.
would include a good book on British Birds for identyfying those you see, and put a tick beside each one you see.good healthy hobby Good Luck on becoming a Twitcher the name given for bird watchers in the UK


Binoculars,bird whatching book, and a tape recorder.


Binoculars and a good field guide. I suggest Sibleys or National Geographic for the field guide..they have range maps that are easily accessible. As far as binocs, for a good quality pair that is not an outrageous price try eagle optics Rangers:
