How long does it take bird eggs to hatch?

Birds built a nest and laid eggs in my grill. I left them alone, but I think the birds abandoned the nest. I want to cook on my grill, but I want to give the little guys a chance too. How long does it usually take bird eggs to hatch. Don’t know what kind of bird this is, but they’re tiny eggs.

it averagely takes about 21 days

It varies from Species to Species. I’d give up trying to grill if you want them to hatch. It could take up to a month for them to hatch and then weeks to months (again depending) for them to leave the nest.

Keep a watch on the nest from a distance and see if mother comes to sit on them, especially at night. She should be there most of the time but might be startled away by proximity of people. Looking through a window may help determine. If you don’t see her for several days, then it should be safe to assume she isn’t going to hatch them.

Cheers!

Usually about 3 weeks.

It varies by species..but most passerines (perching birds) take approximately 2 weeks to hatch their eggs, and usually another 2 weeks before the young leave the nest. If the nest is active and the parents are still attending to it, it would actually be illegal for you to remove it as all native birds are protected by law. I am glad you decided to give them a chance! You can watch it from afar to see if the parent or parents are going to it, to see if it has for SURE been abandoned. If they see you nearby..they will not come. You have to watch for a while though as they may stay off the nest for 20-30 minutes at a time. Once you are able to remove the nest…you will need to block off the entrance the bird used to get in there so that you will not have this dilemma again next year.
