How do I start birding?
I’m curious as to how an 18-year-old starts birding. I know I need to get binoculars, a camera, and a big, dorky hat. Is there anything else I may need?
How do I learn all the types of birds in Arizona? What’s a good field guide to buy?
Where is a good place to go bird watching in the Phoenix area? What might I see? How can I meet other young people who love birds? It seems more like a middle-aged activity. :P

A good guide book is essential. How do you know what you’re looking at without one? Preferably pocket size for when you’re out and encyclopedic for at home.

Go out to places where birders gather and see if anybody your age is around. if they are, go talk to them. :)
