Gyrfalcon in Harlingen

Falconer Jonathan Wood flies a female Gyrfalcon at the Rio Grande Valley Birding Festival in Harlingen, Texas. Gyrfalcons are the largest falcons in the world and hunt prey as large as geese. This bird is four months old and still in training, diving on the lure Jonathan is swinging in the air.

they come from cold climates so they have virtually no heat tolerance at all. that is why falconers breed gyr/sakers - sakers come from the desert…


Does the warm weather effect the gyrfalcon at all?
