Birding Question: What bird is this?

South-Eastern Ontario, solid grey-brown colour over entire body, no noticeable streaks or patterns, sparrow size and shape, cone shaped black beak and black feet (or at least very dark). Seen at ground feeder eating white millet and corn mix early May. Any ideas?
Not a grackle. It is not large enough to be a grackle, has a much smaller beak, and a lighter tone with more brown. Also, the eyes are black.
