I was very disappointed in this book it wasn’t at all like I was lead to believe, I live in france and expected to see and hear more common european birds, really it was a total waste of money.

The book is beautiful, well illustrated. Suggestion: the numbers to correspond to the pics/vica versa are too SMALL for an older person to see.

AND, do you have a separate edition of just birds of the Northeast and East Coast as well as shore birds? I’d like to exchange this edition of Around the World for birds native to the East Coast. This is a gift for my 89 year Mother who is legally blind but has always loved birds…she doesn’t recognize the sounds from “around the world”. The North America section is “too limited”…i.e. crows/bobwhites/hawks/seagulls, etc.

Thank you.

I was very disappointed in this book it wasn’t at all like I was lead to believe, I live in a public restroom in Svalbard and expected to see and hear more birds common to Svalbardean public toilets, really it was a total waste of money.

We have the North American version of this book and have enjoyed learning about the birds out our back door (and plenty more we’ve never seen before). The international version listed here is perhaps even more interesting–and is supplemented by lovely images and descriptions.

One note, however: the (cheap) batteries arrived dead, so I had to replace them with three new AAAs.

The book arrived intact and in great condition. It is sheer pleasure to listen to the birdsongs of birds I have only seen to date. Now, in the early dawn, I can listen to the birds at my window and recognize the species by its song. What joy!
